Emma and Alice

A Deeper Look into Your Endometrial Microbiome

At Oasis Fertility Centre, we know that successful implantation relies on more than just embryo quality, your endometrial environment plays a vital role. That’s why we offer EMMA, the Endometrial Microbiome Metagenomic Analysis, a cutting-edge test that gives us a detailed view of the microbial balance within your uterus.

Backed by world-leading research and clinical expertise, EMMA & ALICE is the most advanced test available to assess the endometrial microbiome. It provides insights that can help improve fertility outcomes, particularly in patients facing recurrent implantation failure or pregnancy loss.

What is EMMA & ALICE?

EMMA is a specialised diagnostic tool that evaluates the presence and proportion of bacteria in the endometrium – some beneficial, others potentially harmful. The test includes ALICE, which screens for pathogenic bacteria associated with chronic endometritis.

With over 70,000 clinical samples analysed worldwide (during the last 5 years), EMMA has helped many patients and clinicians better understand the root causes of implantation issues. It provides a clear, evidence-based path forward for more personalised fertility care.

What’s New with EMMA & ALICE?

The latest generation of EMMA & ALICE brings even more precision and clarity:

Enhanced Lactobacillus Profiling
A deeper and more detailed analysis of the Lactobacillus population – essential bacteria that protect against infections and support implantation.

Simplified Reporting for Faster Decisions
Easier-to-understand results that help your fertility specialist design a treatment plan tailored to your microbiome.

Improved Clinical Accuracy
The latest reporting methods are backed by robust clinical trials (Moreno et al., 2022), ensuring you receive care that reflects the most up-to-date science.

Why Choose EMMA & ALICE?

Uses highly sensitive RT-PCR technology for precise results
Detects both healthy and potentially harmful bacteria
Helps determine if your uterine environment is supportive of implantation
Offers targeted insights to guide antibiotic or probiotic treatment if needed
Includes ALICE to detect infections that might go unnoticed but affect fertility

Who Might Benefit from EMMA & ALICE?

EMMA & ALICE is particularly useful for individuals who have experienced:

Recurrent implantation failure (RIF)
Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL)
By better understanding the microbial makeup of your endometrium, we can offer more tailored strategies to support successful implantation and ongoing pregnancy.

Please Note
While EMMA & ALICE is a powerful diagnostic tool, it does have limitations:

It does not test for antibiotic resistance.
A negative result does not entirely rule out the presence of all potential pathogens.
